A luxury cruise vessel called at New Mangalore Port on Wednesday, March 3.

A press release by the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) said that mv AIDAdiva called at New Mangalore Port on Wednesday with 2032 passengers and 650 crew members onboard the vessel.

The cruise ship came from Kochi in the morning. Around 1,500 passengers and crew members opted for ground tours arranged by the local tour operators. A majority of the passengers were from Germany, the release said.

During the day, they visited various locations such as Mangaladevi Temple, Gokarnatha Temple and St Aloysius Chapel in Mangalore, monolithic statue of Lord Bahubali at Karkala, Soans Farm and Thousand-pillar Jain Basadi at Moodbidri. The vessel sailed out to Kochi in the evening.

This was mv AIDAdiva’s fourth visit at NMPT in recent years. However, it is the second cruise vessel to call at NMPT during the beginning of 2013-14, the release added.
